Abstract

We present the results of two rapid assesment programs in two indigenous communities in Ecuadorian Amazonia. Both forests are caracterizad by the high tree diversity and inusual floristic composition. Lecythidaceae, Chrysobalanaceae and Myristicaceae are the most abundant and diverse groups in the plots, the floristic dissimilarity of Bataburo and Alta Floencia plots with those located in the western more side of Yasuní Nacional Park shows unexpected high beta diversity at landscape level in ecuadorian Amazonia. Additionally we report 13 new records for tree Amazonian species, finally we concluded that the forests-men linkage still being strong in the two indigenous communities visited.
