Abstract

In this study we report the floristic variation in the terra firme tree community in Ecuadorian Amazonia. We found strong and abrupt variation in the Ecuador-Peru border, this region clearly presents a discontinuity between the composition of forests located in the Yasuní region with the much more heterogeneous forests located to the eastern portion of Ecuadorian Amazonia. In this region we recorded species previously not reported to Ecuador and very characteristic of the Iquitos and Caqueta flora, additionally the absence and decay in abundance of the denominated “Yasuní oligarchy” and the increase in diversity and abundance of some poor soils genera.
