PLANTAS ORNAMENTALES DE LA UNIVERSIDAD CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR

Abstract

Between 2003 and 2008, on the campus of Central University of Ecuador located in the north-center of the city, approximately 2790m of high and in the humid mountain thicket vegetal formation, botanical collections were made, identifications in situ and digital photographs of la flora; the samples are deposited in the Herbarium Alfredo Paredes (QAP). It was recorded 281 vegetal species belong to 88 families, 1 fern, 8 Gymnosperms, Angiosperms 272 (209 dicotyledons and 63 monocotyledons), 206 are introduced, 70 native, 5 endemic species, 137 herbs, 66 shrubs, 62 trees, 12 veins, 2 subshrubs and 2 epiphytes. All species photographed. It is also recommended that the campus was reforested with native plants and includes some modifications to what could become a big botanical garden.
