Diversidad y flora de la loma Bretaña, Carchi – Ecuador

Abstract

The Britain hill, is located to the south of the Biological Station Guandera, between the river and the Central gully; It corresponds politically to the Gonzalez Suarez parish, Montufar canton, San 48 Cerón y Reyes: Flora, loma Bretaña Gabriel, Carchi province; vegetation: frailejones moor and upper montane evergreen forest; living area: very humid forest Montano; coordinates and altitude in the middle of the hill 00º33.44`N - 77º42.45’W, 3.235m.s.n.m. Sampling was made with methodologies of transects and random collections; in the frailejones moor, with an area of 0.01ha, where all species were analyzed; in the forest 0.1ha, and ≥2.5cm species of DAP; also along the entire ridge random collections were performed. Botanical data were analyzed using the Simpson Diversity Index and Importance Value Index. The botanical collections are identified, mounted and deposited at the Herbarium Alfredo Paredes (QAP) of the Central University of Ecuador. In the frailejones moor were found 33 species, 371 individuals, Diversity Index = 9.7, interpreted as close to the average variety, most common species found: Festuca asplundii (Poaceae), Blechnum loxense (Blechnaceae) y Neurolepis aristata (Poaceae). In the forest were found 41 species, 256 individuals, total basal area = 4,5m², Diversity Index = 10.9, interpreted as close to the average variety, Anthurium oxybelium (Araceae), Oreopanax bogotensis (Araliaceae) y Miconia bracteolata (Melastomataceae), most common species were found: species and major Importance Value Index Basal area: Clusia flaviflora (Clusiaceae), Weimannia multijuga (Cunonniaceae) and A. oxybelium. The Compendium of the flora hill Britain sum 141 plant species, corresponding to 95 genera and 51 families; 123 are Magnoliophytas and 18 Pteridophytes; 132 correspond to native species and 8 are endemic.
