Economic development is understood not only as an increase in per capita income, but also as a process that tends to the optimal use, combination and conservation of factors of production and natural resources, to a distribution of income based on work, productivity and efficiency, all of which results in a harmonious and sustained growth that serves to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of a country.
