Abstract

This article was scanned by the Aurelio Espinosa Polit Ecuadorian Library.

Ecuador's economic evolution during the last decades is the result of the application of two diametrically opposed development strategies associated with different macroeconomic and sectoral policies. Until the late 1950s, the strategy was oriented to the export of traditional products. Economic growth in this period was facilitated by the export of agricultural goods, mainly coffee, bananas and cocoa.
