An assessment of the factors affecting the production of 39 oil wells in “IRO A” field of Block16, Orellana province identifying the critical points of the electric submersible pumping system, particularly bottom hole equipment, in order to take actions that ensure the integrity and useful life of the wells and production lines. Included in the evaluation were reports on well work overs, the useful life of each piece of equipment, and the damages and costs involved in a well’s ceasing to be productive. The Oddo-Tomson Index, which predicts the tendency of formation water to form scale in the system and the tubing, was obtained from mathematical models that include the following variables: physicochemical characteristics of the fluid being extracted from reservoirs Basal Tena, upper U, lower U, middle U, M1, as well as production conditions, peculiar to each well, with the objective of making a field corrosion map that interrelates the parameters mentioned above. Formation water from reservoirs middle U and upper U, with high salinity, between 60000 ppm and 99000 ppm, especially tend to form scale, subsequently the principal and most costly cause of a well’s requiring a work over involving mechanical-electrical bottom equipment, followed by scale and corrosion.
