Abstract

The article analyzes a Producers' Association as a demonstrative example of the potential of social capital to promote economic and social improvements in a territory. It considers the relationship between associative governance and territorial governance, identifying that in addition to the internal network that every association has, it is necessary to strengthen external relations, especially with the public-private articulation and the institutional framework for development.

Author Biography

Katy Alejandra Alarcón Bastidas, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador

Alejandra Alarcón Bastidas is an economist from PUCE and an official of Ban Ecuador B.P. She has participated in international internships with Woccu Latinoamerica and is co-founder of Habla Lola for the eradication of violence against women. She is currently initiating a financial education program for women members in her native province of Imbabura.

Grace Guerrero Zurita is a research professor in the Faculty of Economics at PUCE, coordinator of the Master's program in Economics, mention in Public Policy, executed in a university network between PUCE-UCE-UGA. She is an economist, MA and MSc, PhD candidate at the University of Grenoble Alpes-France. She has participated in territorial development projects with national and international organizations. She currently teaches the subject Economy, space and territory.
