Abstract
Este artículo fue escaneado por la Biblioteca Ecuatoriana Aurelio Espinoza Pólit.
Al iniciarse los años ochenta, la mayoría de países de América Latina, emprendió todo un proceso de aplicación de duras políticas de ajuste económico. Se argumentaba que, en un plazo relativamente corto, lograrían corregir los principales desequilibrios económicos y sentar bases solventes para el crecimiento futuro. Más de una década después, no sólo que no han logrado superar al largo período de inercia económica, sino que los efectos de la crisis hoy se dejan sentir con mayor rudeza en el conjunto de países de la región.
