Abstract

The initial ideas and perspectives created with the Ecuadorian industrialization process have suffered distortions in terms of the objectives set out, back in the 1970s. We are not going to go deeper into the subject, since the debate on the incentive policy and the degree of protectionism have been dealt with in sufficient depth by the Economic Research Institute of the Central University and several specialists; our intention is to recall that despite the Industrial Promotion Law with its enormous legal and financial support, an autonomous and stable economic-social development was not achieved, as was the initial approach.
