Abstract
The crisis currently affecting Ecuador has had a long gestation process that dates back to the end of the 1970s, when the economic situation began to become critical, partly as a result of a process of industrialization that failed to lay the necessary foundations for its own reproduction, a problem that led to a process of growing external indebtedness (1977-1980) and the well-known debt crisis in 1982.
