Abstract
Statistics elaborated by UNICEF point out that "every week a quarter of a million children die in the world and several million more survive in precarious conditions due to malnutrition and almost permanent poor health". Nearly 500,000 women die each year from causes related to pregnancy and childbirth and, some 13 million children die annually before they reach the age of S.
