Abstract

This article was scanned by the Aurelio Espinosa Polit Ecuadorian Library.

In the seventies, in Ecuador, as in the rest of Latin American countries, foreign indebtedness was favored as the main mechanism to finance development, to the detriment of foreign investment, which was subject to a variety of restrictions for its entry into the country. However, a few years of applying an aggressive policy of foreign indebtedness led to an excessive and uncontrolled growth of the foreign debt, the amount of which currently exceeds 12 billion dollars.
