Abstract

One of the fundamental limitations in the analysis of the so-called Informal Sector of the Economy (SIE) is given because the characteristics of the type of capitalist development in Ecuador and Latin America vary notably with respect to the characteristics of the type of capitalist development in European countries and North America. This variation is based on the fact that in Ecuador and Latin America the process of capitalist modernization did not manage to homogenize the productive apparatus or to productively absorb the global labor force.
