Abstract
In order to properly understand what has been happening in Chile since September 1973, I believe it is essential to begin by stressing that the current situation in that country is not the product of chance, nor of the sole intention of the dominant national groups, nor of the naivety or stubbornness of a group of military officers. Rather, it constitutes a project intimately linked to the process of internationalization of capital and specifically to the action of transnational corporations, an action that is the result of a series of modifications that have occurred in the international division of labor.
