Abstract
In the first place, we would like to emphasize that, given that international migratory movements are not very intense in the Ecuadorian case, we will omit their consideration and consequently, when referring to migration, we will do so only in terms of internal movements, be they interregional, between urban and rural areas, interprovincial or cantonal. A second observation has to do with the emphasis we will have to place on the determining causes of population displacements.
