In the last years of the present decade, Ecuador began to live a stage of important changes characterized by the progressive transition from an agro-export economy, with basically oligarchic features, to another of agro-mineral-export character, in which the urban centers acquire an important gravitation, with the presence of industrial, commercial and financial bourgeois layers associated with the imperialist capital, whose penetration in the country was simultaneously stimulated from the second half of the previous decade.
