Abstract
The present note, which aims to present what we consider to be some of the main elements involved in the theoretical and methodological discussion of conjuncture studies, cannot but begin with the recognition of the ideological approach with which it will be developed. This approach is expressed in two particular aspects of a global conception: first, the appreciation that the ultimate origin of all social processes is to be found in the economic base of society, in the concrete forms adopted by the activity of production and distribution of goods and that, consequently, the understanding of these social processes must begin with an understanding of economic processes.
