Abstract

The University in Ecuador constitutes the new and modern producer and administrator of the dominant ideology, a function that emerges concealed, inverted and displaced by other apparent functions, or through the mediation of ideological illusions that are formed in the heat of the struggle of its components. This inversion has allowed the University in Ecuador to be conceptualized as a center for the creation of culture and the transmission of science, science defined as a neutral, apolitical space at the margin of the class struggle; the University becomes an instrument at the service of the exploiting classes in whose bosom the majority of students and professors are housed in their eagerness to obtain the social recognition that brings their entry into the professional market. In this sense, the University operates by dissolving the social origin of students coming from the dispossessed classes.
