Abstract
Events in the world, whether economic, political or military in nature, are by no means individual pieces in the wheel of history, but have their origin in a reciprocal interplay of causes and effects that must be recognized and analyzed. It follows that a better interpretation of the present requires a retrospective vision and an objective judgment of historical processes. For the sake of brevity, let us take a critical look at the most important events of recent decades that have contributed to shaping the conflictive situation of today's world.
