Abstract
Este artículo fue escaneado por la Biblioteca Ecuatoriana Aurelio Espinosa Pólit.
La necesidad de promover en forma armónica el desarrollo del sistema económico y social del Ecuador y mejorar el nivel de vida en general de la población ecuatoriana, fueron la base para que los autores del Plan Nacional del Desarrollo Económico y social, dieran la más alta prelación de desarrollo al sector agropecuario, sector que constituye el más importante dentro de la economía ecuatoriana por ser la primera fuente productora de divisas (94% en 1964), la principal fuente de trabajo (55% de la población económica activa en 1962) y el sector que genera el mayor porcentaje para el Producto Interno Bruto (el 36% en 1964).
