Abstract
Este artículo fue escaneado por la Biblioteca Ecuatoriana Aurelio Espinosa Pólit.
Desde las más antiguas civilizaciones el hombre trató de conocer cuantitativamente el número de los semejantes que conformaban el grupo social al que pertenecía y trató, asimismo, de evaluar los recursos y circunstancias que le rodeaban. Estas determinaciones, junto con el desarrollo de la civilización, con los convenios y entendimientos internacionales y mediante el cruce de ideas y experiencias entre los países del mundo, condujeron a perfeccionar métodos de investigación que permiten establecer las relaciones básicas más importantes que facilitan el ordenamiento político, social, económico y cultural.
