Capitalist Crisis in the Southern Cone: Superexploitation and Subimperialism in Alto Parana’s Textile Maquila
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims at exploring the link between the capitalist dynamic in the Southern Cone at the beginning of the 2000s, Alto Parana’s textile maquila, and the condition of extraction of surplus value that are prevalent in it. Particularly, we analyze the divergent trajectories of Brazilian and Paraguayan dependent capitalism that underpin its existence. Brazilian capital’s need to reestablish the conditions for its accumulation after its crisis in 2010-2011 prompted its extroversion and subimperial attitude. The material conditions of class confrontation in Paraguay grant particularly profitable conditions for the extraction of surplus value.
