Euphorbia fraseri Boiss. a species forgotten for more than a century and a half in Ecuador

The genus Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae), which in Ecuador registers 43 species, 12 of them endemic. In order to establish the taxonomic identity of indeterminate specimens of this genus, carried out more than 20 years ago in the Padre Rumi hill of the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, we consulted the Quito herbaria: Q, QAP, QCA, QCNE, and botanical experts among them Dr. Ricarda Riina, the types accessible in the Jeastor page and databases of neighboring countries. The results showed that Euphorbia fraseri Boiss. was first collected in 1860, then Sodiro in 1892 near Guápulo, however, the Catalog of Vascular Plants of Ecuador published in 1999 did not include it. The current revision of the species includes a taxonomic description and records from other localities in the Ecuadorian Andes.
