Abstract

At this point in the century, the most characteristic feature of the international economy is undoubtedly the crisis of the capitalist system. The center of gravity of this crisis is unequivocally located in the U.S. economy and, therefore, any attempt to explain this phenomenon requires a review, however brief, of the evolution of the U.S. economy in recent times.
