Abstract
This article was scanned by the Aurelio Espinosa Polit Ecuadorian Library.
The rebellion of university youth in the last decade finally exposed the institution-university to political debate. Student movements worldwide managed to break the old "ivory tower" and shook the traditional university structures. Motivated by an anti-authoritarian and emancipatory rebellion, students not only questioned the institution-family, the prevailing cultural, social and sexual patterns and the legitimacy of so-called Western democracy, but also the backward university structures. Although this characterized the student movements as a whole, there were, however, differences between the national student movements.
