Abstract
Este artículo fue escaneado por la Biblioteca Ecuatoriana Aurelio Espinosa Pólit.
En la lucha apasionada por el sometimiento y dominación del medio físico ecuatoriano, la selva tropical y la montaña del suelo patrio presentaron la resistencia más implacable al esfuerzo productivo del pueblo.
Todo intento de la población de la Sierra de penetrar en la selva, al aprovechamiento económico, fue doloroso. El trópico exige una transformación biopsíquica del hombre sin la cual no puede resistir en la lucha contra la misma feracidad del suelo y contra millones de gérmenes mortíferos.
