Super-exploitation of the labor force and sub-imperialism: a debate on the Marxist Theory of Dependency

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss two categories proposed by Ruy Marini – the super-exploitation of the labor force and sub-imperialism – and its relevance for understanding the specificities of the capitalist development in the peripheral and dependent latin-american countries, considering the role they played into the international division of labor. Furthermore, it will highlight the importance of the political aspects in Marini’s theory, and how those categories are central in his critical interpretation on the political, economic and social problems of latin-american countries. Problems which could only be solved from the overcoming of the capitalist mode of production.
