Abstract

This article is based on chapters 8, 9 and 10 of book The Discourse of a Neopopulist Caudillo, which is in circulation on digital platform. This paper shows the different strategies that, over ten years, were built by the government of the so-called "Citizen Revolution" to control and silence the Ecuadorian press in a game of powers between the media and the political.

Licenciado en Comunicación Social y Magíster en Ciencias Internacionales (Universidad Central del Ecuador). Fue director de Investigación y Postgrados de la Facultad de Comunicación Social de la misma universidad. Ha sido columnista de diarios como El Comercio, Últimas Noticias, El Mercurio de Chile. Actualmente colabora con diario La Hora.
