Abstract

The reason for my early research into the historical evolution of the Afro-Esmeralde population close to the Afro-Colombian population, and the way in which these processes take place, comes from my interest in a society whose development happened parallel to that of the republican capital. My first research on this society, which seems to be of matrilineal order, arises from a project of historical recount for the subject History of Ecuador2, in which, in contrast to family memories contrasted with bibliographical research, it was possible to situate historically a familiar, giving account of its context, the roles to which he was subject in society and comic, these allowed him to be a part of history.
