Abstract

The objective of the article is to characterize the perceptions on the operational-organizational and individual conditions of professional autonomy in journalists of Mexican and Cuban digital native media. It is defended as an argument that there is a recognition by the professionals of a labor insertion significantly favorable to autonomous creation, although this does not prevent the reference to the intervention in the production processes of actors with certain positions within the journalistic organizations. It also refers to a practical adequacy of journalistic responsibility as a way of concretizing perceptions about the individual conditions in which professional practice takes place, which is related to the biographical situation of each professional and the principles of significance from which they start. The work follows the assumptions of phenomenological sociology, as well as acknowledges previous literature on journalistic autonomy. It is based on a qualitative research perspective and the fundamental technique used is the in-depth interview with the media professionals studied.
