Abstract

The topic of cultural management is essential for determining its distinctive elements focused on the conscious participation of the community and its key public stakeholders in the implementation of local development projects and programs. The greatest challenge lies in identifying the decisive factors and elements in shaping more inclusive social learning environments. This article aimed to analyze the available scientific evidence on academic cultural management based on rights and citizen participation in digital environments in the Cochapata Parish GAD (Government of the Autonomous Community of Cochapata) in the province of Azuay, Ecuador. Consequently, a systematic review study was conducted with an analytical-reflective approach and exploratory-descriptive scope, using the PICO methodology. This review enabled the review of 60 papers published between 2020 and 2025 on indexed websites and databases. Eleven articles were selected, once exclusion criteria were applied. The main results show considerable heterogeneity in the definition of the characteristics of academic cultural management. Despite this, they agree in recognizing it as an emerging academic field where the theory and practice of cultural management are interrelated. The trends and challenges in the use of ICTs in this field for decision-making, policy design, and the digitalization of cultural spaces are clear. This not only transforms the dissemination and access to this type of content but also provides academic cultural management with a more interdisciplinary conception.
