Abstract

The purpose of the article is the media representation of social reality and how it is constructed by journalists employed in private media. This purpose leads to the analysis of the two types of journalism, narrating from the paradigm of consensus and that it does so from the conflict. These guidelines are not volun- tary, but are explained from the characteristics of private media companies, comprising the whole of Cultural Industries. It is intended to relate the proces- ses that allow journalists, understood as intellectual workers, build the representation of social reality. This implies a communications action characterization of the medium from the orientation and position occupational Newsmaking structure. And this integration involves recognizing editorial guidelines and limits on the exercise.
