Abstract

The article argues for rethinking political understanding by moving beyond a purely rational, logocentric approach toward a mythico‑political perspective, where myth is not falsehood but a profound mode of producing meaning and collective subjectivity. Puello‑Socarrás contends that politics cannot be reduced to the state, government, or parties; rather, it is a human disposition for living together, shaped by imaginaries, symbols, and narratives that guide action. Myth, far from being an archaic remnant, functions as a foundation of legitimacy, cohesion, and orientation, structuring social reality and institutions. Thus, understanding politics requires acknowledging its internal mythical dimension, which shapes identities, values, and practices, and helps explain both the stability and transformation of social orders.
