Profilaxis antibiótica en cesárea
Resumen
Un total de 120 pacientes con bajo riesgo de infección, operadas de cesárea en el Hospital Enrique Garcés de Quito, Ecuador, de agosto a noviembre de 1992 son clasificadas en 3 grupos de 40 pacientes cada uno: el primero sin antibióticos, el segundo con ampicihna por 24 horas y el tercero por 7 días post-operatorios.
Se evalúa la utilidad o no de la antibiótico-profilaxis, se utilizan como indicadores de infección la endometritis y el absceso de pared, encontrándose este último como más frecuente. El índice de infección post-cesárea es de 6.7 o/o.
Se encuentran menos pacientes infectadas sin usar antibióticos y se concluye que en pacientes de bajo rieso no es necesario el uso de antibiótico- profilaxis. Cuando el riesgo aumenta se recomienda el uso de una sola dosis de ampicilina; y se sugiere mantener actualizada la conducta en él manejo de las pacientes para disminuir más las infecciones.
