Investigación de un brote epidémico infeccioso ictérico selvático
Resumen
Cuatro pacientes conscriptos del Batallón Chiriboga de Montalvo Provincia de Pastaza fueron transferidos al Hospital General de las FF.AA. de Quito en los meses de mayo y junio de 1992, 1 paciente civil fué transferido del Hospital Militar de Coca al Voz Andes Quito; falleciendo los 4. Presentaron un cuadro clínico similar, ictericia, fiebre con insuficiencia hepática grave, insuficiencia renal aguda, y trastorno neurológico progresivo de cefalea, estupor y coma en un cuadro clínico de 7 a 10 días de evolución, sobre todo en los pacientes que fallecieron. Con estos antecedentes y el hecho de haber presentado un proyecto de investigación de virus de hepatitis en las áreas orientales, se conformó una comisión para investigar el brote epidémico de Montalvo.
