Abstract

Divergence between traditional mass media and the shortcuts granted by poetry; Ecuador and the social scenario of October 2019, to the presente pandemia.

The main purpose of this essay is to treat the vicious circle of violence and colonialism generated by traditional mass media, while opposing its practices with shortcuts for building meaning and the poetic quest. Traditional mass media practices are confronted by  adressing the events which occured in the social manifestations that the ecuadorian people held in October 2019 in a historic scenario. This is done by quoting Iván Carvajal´s literary theory on the existence of a “secret country” where poetry shows the way to hidden acenstral ways which organize and give sense to existence through images and the power of metaphors. The autor also mentions the main role that some ecuadorian poets have in the nations spiritual legacy.
