Abstract

This article argues that the 21st century should be viewed as an era of terminal exhaustion for human civilization, marked by ecological collapse, cognitive automation, demographic crisis, and the resurgence of reactionary forms of violence. Drawing on authors such as Marx, Anders, Baudrillard, Jullien, and Simondon, the text demonstrates that modern philosophy is no longer sufficient to comprehend a world in which reason, will, and historical teleology have lost their efficacy. In the face of the dominance of the automaton, the abstraction of capital, and the dissolution of the universalist horizon, the text proposes shifting philosophical reflection toward a “soteriology of suffering”, of becoming-nothing, and of desertion from Western historical logic. Thus, the task of contemporary philosophy would be to imagine conditions of livability, care, and meaning in the midst of collapse, rather than to promise totalizing historical emancipations.
