Abstract

The Zacachum and Saiba members of the Subibaja formation represent the Middle Miocene age reservoirs in the Amistad field. Although the Zacachum member is one of the main reservoirs, its hydrocarbon potential has been limited due to the presence of gas recorded in the geophysical logs in the drilled wells in the structural high area of ​​the field, omitting its flanks and the lack of studies focused on identifying prospective areas. In addition, the base has been established according to the records of these well-logs, thus restricting not only its hydrocarbon potential but also its real thickness. Therefore, it is essential to have an established real base of the member, to carry out the corresponding studies and analysis that lead to its characterization, and to identify potential targets to perform calculations to establish the reserves or resources of the hydrocarbon that has been found. This research aims to establish the real base of the member and identify potential natural gas accumulation zones, associating them with the sedimentary environment to be identified. The seismic interpretation techniques, seismostratigraphic analysis, seismic attributes and spectral decomposition, DHI analysis, biostratigraphic data from the Amistad Sur 01 and Amistad 01 wells, thickness analysis, and the GR curve have been implemented. The result is the authentic base of the member together with the characterization of its seismic facies, detection of anomalous amplitudes and Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators, and the recognition of electroforms in the GR (Gamma-ray) log. The integration of results allowed the identification of probable gas accumulation zones along the surface of Zacachum and the establishment of its sedimentary environment as a deltaic plain.
