Abstract

This review article discusses the potato disc assay developed between 1955 and 1982 using Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains to generate tumors, we will see why it can be used to test antitumor activity of various secondary metabolites and the advantages of this screening compared with other tests based on cell lines in addition to the importance of its use in various current publications, especially in developing countries where ancestral medicine is still widely used.
