This essay aims to present how the effects produced by the Covid-19 pandemic have deepened the loss of identity of the urban fabric, accelerating its transformation towards a “Proto - Generic City” inhabit of an individualistic population whose informational culture has ended to transform the spatial limits, the activities, the conflicts, and the space of social interaction, into common. Given this situation the role of the Academy is reviewed, to address and counter this scenario where utopian thought can be used as an instrument of reflection and production of critical knowledge that allows us as a society to boost an innovative model of an ideal city.
