Metropolitan cities are inevitably involved in a process of regeneration of their urban stocks. In Santiago de Chile I accompanied a study on the densification of the city in the urban spaces of the mass public transport axes. From the identification of areas of density, the study proposes a prospective design exercise, showing that the bet is not only to build skyscrapers (excessive height does not always have a good acceptance in Latin American cultures), but rather solutions with less height but with more intense use of private space. The cession of land is also proposed to expand and improve public space, especially the space for pedestrian traffic. The article is based on this experience and conceptually and perceptually addresses formulas, strategic guidelines and project bases compared to detailed designs. Proposals that show the idea of judicious densification that makes a city and regenerates it where the intensity is low.
