Traumatismos dentoalveolares en odontopediatría, protocolo de intervención en pacientes pediátricos. Revisión Bibliográfica

Introducción: Los traumatismos dentoalveolares en niños de 6 meses a 10 años son comunes en odontopediatría y afectan su salud y desarrollo oral, lo que hace crucial una atención oportuna para evitar complicaciones. Esta revisión analiza las manifestaciones clínicas, etiologías y estrategias de manejo de estos traumatismos. Materiales y métodos: Se revisaron 32 artículos entre 2020 y 2024 en Google Scholar. PubMed, Elsevier y SciELO. Resultados: Las causas más frecuentes de traumatismos dentoalveolares en niños son caídas, deportes de contacto y accidentes de tráfico, afectando principalmente la parte anterior del maxilar y la mandíbula. La rápida intervención es esencial para evitar la pérdida dental, y las clasificaciones clínicas y radiológicas ayudan a categorizar la gravedad del trauma. Aproximadamente un tercio de los niños preescolares experimentan trauma dental, lo que resalta la importancia de la atención inmediata y la educación preventiva. Conclusiones: El manejo adecuado de los traumatismos dentales es clave para la salud bucal y la calidad de vida de los niños.
