Abstract

Objective: To describe the clinical and radiographic effects of the use of the Plato Junior orthopedic appliance in the correction of deep bite in a pediatric patient over a 90-day intervention period. Methodology: A case report of a pediatric patient diagnosed with deep bite is presented, treated with the placement of the Plato Junior appliance during this period. The evaluation was carried out through clinical analysis, photographic records, follow-up radiographs, and comparative cephalometric analysis at baseline and at the end of treatment. Results: At the end of the treatment, a clinical reduction of the overbite was observed, mainly attributable to dentoalveolar changes such as the relative intrusion of the upper incisors and posterior disocclusion, along with an improvement in occlusal function and facial aesthetics. Although cephalometric analysis showed favorable changes in the lower facial third, these cannot be interpreted as true skeletal growth due to the short intervention period and may correspond to functional adaptations and normal physiological growth of the patient. Conclusions: The Plato Junior appliance proved to be an effective short-term therapeutic alternative for dentoalveolar correction of deep bite in this pediatric patient; however, longitudinal studies with larger sample sizes are required to determine its impact on skeletal growth.
