Introduction: Syphilis is a contagious disease that manifests in various forms on the mucous membranes and skin. Commonly referred to as the "great imitator," this infection can present vague symptoms and affects different body systems. The mouth is a frequently involved area during the initial phases of the disease. Recognizing the distinct manifestations that appear at different stages of the infection can be key to achieving a timely diagnosis and treatment in this group of patients. Despite the effectiveness of diagnostic methods and the response of the infection to standard antimicrobial treatment, the prevalence of syphilis is increasing globally. Objectives: We present the clinical features and treatment of a case of oral syphilis that presented in our unit. Materials and methods: The reported case illustrates the varied and nonspecific clinical manifestations of oral syphilis, highlighting the need for dental professionals to be informed about these presentations. The current literature on syphilis was reviewed. Results: Dentists play a crucial role in detecting the disease and implementing appropriate testing for early intervention. This will not only reduce the incidence of the serious consequences of tertiary infections but will also help curb their transmission.
