Alcance y tendencias de la cirugía oncológica
Abstract
La cirugía es uno de los métodos terapéuticos capaz de curar una gran variedad de tumores malignos ya sea sola o combinada con otros métodos como la radioterapia, la quimioterapia y la inmunoterapia.
En realidad, estos diversos tratamientos no son competitivos sino más bien complementarios como se observa en la tendencia actual a utilizarlos en diferentes combinaciones (1,2).
Cuando el chance de curación es similar al usarlos solos se adopta un determinado tratamiento en base a factores secundarios tales como edad, sitio de residencia, tipo de trabajo, secuelas, calidad de sobrevida e incluso costo del tratamiento.
