Open Access policy

- Siembra provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps in the global exchange of knowledge.

- Siembra subscribes to the Open Access model in which scientific publication content is freely available in full text on the Internet, without temporary restrictions, and whose editorial production costs are not passed on to the authors. This policy proposes to break the economic barriers that generate inequalities both in access to information and in the publication of research results.

- All content of Siembra is available free of charge. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of articles, or use the texts for any other lawful purpose, without requesting prior permission from the publisher or the author. The definition of “Open Access” is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).

- Siembra is a signer of Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) through its Editor-in-Chief.

The manuscripts published by Siembra must be properly cited.

Publishing and funding policy

- Siembra DOES NOT charge authors any fees for article submission, processing or publication (No apply Article Processing Charge - Non-APC).

- The edition and publication of Siembra is financed by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Central University of Ecuador.

Copyright notice

The authors who publish in Siembra know and accept the following conditions:

  • Authors retain the copyright and grant Siembra the right of first publication of the work, under the Creative Commons Attribution License. Third parties are allowed to use what has been published as long as they cite the author or authors of the work and its publication in this journal.
  • Authors maintain the copyright and guarantee Siembra the right to publish the manuscript through the channels it considers appropriate.
  • Authors may establish on their own additional agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in Siembra, acknowledging their initial publication in the same, such as in institutional repositories.
  • Authors are authorized to disseminate their work electronically once the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Digital preservation policy

- The contents of Siembra have the digital preservation system enabled in PKP Preservation Network (PN) and LOCKSS through OJS.

- The Central University of Ecuador has a server where its contents are deposited, and which management is covered by the Information Security Policy of the Directorate of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DTIC).

- The articles published by Siembra are freely available in reliable third-party repositories and databases, such as REDALYC, SciELO, La Referencia, REDIB, DIALNET, etc., immediately after their publication.

Interoperability and machine readability policy

- Siembra enables full text, metadata, and references to be tracked and accessed with permission. 

- Siembra enables interoperability under OAI-PMH protocol of open data and open source.

- Siembra publishes the full text of its articles in PDF, HTML, EPUB, and XML formats, to facilitate their reading on any device and computer platform.
