Analysis of the Housing Unit Avenida del Trabajo CTM “Fidel Velázquez”

Abstract

The main objective of this research work is to rescue and make visible the contribution of the Mexican architect Alejandro Zohn Rosenthal to the issue of collective housing. Through the study of the project of the Housing Unit CTM Fidel Velazquez, the work wants to bring into light all those architectural, urban and social values that the architect tapatío implemented in his proposals as foundational values of a quality dwelling. Today these values seem to have been forgotten by urban policies, by builders and by architects and urban planners themselves, often more attentive in the elaboration of quantitative, rather than qualitative, responses to housing demand. Under the vision of collective housing how urban project becomes important to review how many "virtuous" examples can teach us towards the construction of a more egalitarian and inclusive city.
