Abstract

Objective: To analyze the capacity of permeabilization and transportation of the mesial canals of the lower first molar, instrumented with different mechanical systems of initial preparation, and to demonstrate their effectiveness in terms of displacement and permeabilization of canals. Methods: 48 samples of lower first molars with mesial roots with moderate curvature were used. The samples were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 PathFile®. Group 2 ProGlider® for continuous rotation. Group 3 WaveOneGold Glider® and group 4 R-Pilot® for reciprocating rotation. In the 4 groups, each instrument was used only once to permeabilize the ducts, as suggested by the manufacturer’s instructions for use. It was irrigated with 1 ml of 2.5% sodium hypochlorite between each instrument. The tomographic images were analyzed and compared, where the displacement diameter was measured before and after instrumentation. To interpret the data obtained, the Chi-Square test was performed with a 95% confidence interval, as well as ANOVA and Tukey’s test with a 95% confidence interval. Results: No significant differences were found in the wear ratio in the rotary system between Path File®, ProGlider®, while in the reciprocating system R-Pilot® and WaveOneGold Glider® there was a significant difference between them. Conclusions: The R-Pilot® group is more effective than the other groups, providing better permeabilization at the apical level in each canal without damaging its initial anatomy.
