ED005. Climatic factors as determinants of the presence and daily richness of pollinators insects (dipterans and hymenopterans)

Abstract

The correlation between climatic factors (relative humidity, precipitation, radiation, temperature, and wind) and the time of day with the presence and daily richness of insects was investigated and evaluated in a high Andean ecosystem in southern Ecuador. Insects were collected for 8 months using colored dishes. During this time, 5 environmental variables were recorded and the abundance and wealth of 17 hymenopteran and 14 dipteran families were analyzed with climatic factors using analysis of generalized linear models of mixed effects. Similarities and differences between the abundance of families were determined according to the time of day. In relation to the Hymenoptera, they were positively influenced by temperature and radiation. Diptera were negatively influenced by precipitation and wind. The time influenced the abundance of 8 families of Hymenoptera and 9 families of Diptera. In general, there was a specificity regarding certain families and the factors studied.
